Exhibition Spotlight: Homebody at Turua Gallery

An intimate celebration of stillness, warmth and winter rituals.

As the chill of July settles over Tāmaki Makaurau, Homebody invites us to embrace the season’s slower rhythm and rediscover the quiet beauty of home. Running from 18 – 30 July 2025 at Turua Gallery in St Heliers, this exhibition brings together ten talented artists, each exploring the emotional and aesthetic comforts of domestic life.

From tranquil interior scenes to soft nudes and still lifes, Homebody celebrates that familiarity, restfulness and ritual that comes with being tucked up indoors. It’s a collection that feels really personal and rich in meaning.

“As we hunker down for winter, we wanted to celebrate the essence of home,” says Liss Wallace, Turua Gallery Owner. “There’s a genuine happiness in embracing the comforts of being a homebody during the winter season. We’ve invited ten of our cherished artists to capture the warmth and intimacy of home and still life, evoking all the cosy feelings this season brings. With such a heartfelt collection, we’re confident everyone will find something they would love to bring home this winter.”

You could be an avid art lover, or just simply after something special for your space, whatever it is this exhibition offers the perfect winter moodboard of creativity, calm and comfort.
