Mulleti Ponsonby Auckland

Mulleti Opens in Ponsonby with Roman Pizza, Spritz and Nonna’s Recipes

There are plenty of places to grab pizza in Auckland. But Mulleti isn’t trying to be just another pizza shop!

The latest venture from Dante’s Pizza founder Enis Baçova has opened at Ponsonby Central, bringing a taste of Roman street food culture to the neighbourhood.

Crisp tray baked pizza sold by weight, comforting pasta al forno, golden fritti and afternoon aperitivo, all inspired by the kind of food that gathers people around the table.

The name Mulleti belongs to Enis’ mother, a tribute to the woman and kitchen that shaped his love of food. It’s fitting, because while the menu celebrates the traditions of Rome, the heart of the concept lies somewhere even closer to home.

As the team puts it, Mulleti is “a Roman forno with the soul of Nonna’s kitchen.”

That idea is part of the experience. Pizza is baked in traditional Roman trays before being cut fresh from the display, weighed and reheated to a perfect crunch. You can pick exactly as much as you like, creating the kind of casual, generous dining that’s a staple throughout Rome.

Beyond pizza you’ll find Roman style pizza sandwiches, baked pasta dishes, classic fritti and an afternoon aperitivo service from 3pm, inviting you to slow down over a spritz and a few shared bites.

For Enis, who first fell in love with cooking alongside his grandmother before building one of Auckland’s most respected pizzerias with Dante’s, Mulleti feels like the next chapter. Less formal than a restaurant but more thoughtful than a takeaway, it’s designed to recreate the warmth, comfort and abundance of a family kitchen.
