Nestled inside Radisson RED Auckland, a new dining spot has arrived with a menu that celebrates the best of New Zealand’s produce, landscapes and culinary creativity.
33 South has officially opened on the lobby level of the hotel on Lorne Street, bringing together seasonal ingredients from across Aotearoa with contemporary cooking and a distinctly social atmosphere.
Designed to move effortlessly from breakfast meetings and working lunches through to evening drinks and relaxed dinners, the new venue aims to be as much a neighbourhood gathering place as it is a hotel restaurant.
The space takes its cues from New Zealand’s natural landscapes, blending warm textures and organic materials with the bold, playful style Radisson RED is known for. That same philosophy carries through to the menu, which has been crafted by Chef Mo Arun, whose 30 years of experience across New Zealand and the Pacific have shaped a menu inspired by local ingredients and regional influences.

Expect premium produce sourced from around the country, including Southland wild venison, Canterbury pork, sustainably caught seafood and native herbs such as horopito and kawakawa. Drinks are equally local in spirit, featuring New Zealand wines alongside cocktails made with homegrown distilleries including Scapegrace, Cardrona Distillery and Pōkeno Whisky, with flavours like mānuka honey, feijoa and kiwifruit making regular appearances.
“We wanted to create a menu that celebrates the exceptional local ingredients we have across Aotearoa and combine them with the influences from across the Pacific to create dishes that are bold, seasonal and full of character. It’s a celebration of Aotearoa’s food story,” said Chef Mo Arun.
The venue has been designed to be more than just somewhere to dine, with an emphasis on connection and community.

“At Radisson RED, we believe the best experiences happen when people come together, and 33 South has been created with exactly that in mind,” said Reinout Engel, General Manager of Radisson RED Auckland.
“It’s not just somewhere to eat, it’s a place to meet, work, celebrate, unwind and discover. From bold local flavours and carefully curated wines to vibrant design and a welcoming atmosphere, every detail has been crafted to reflect Auckland’s creative energy. Whether you’re staying with us or simply looking for your new favourite neighbourhood spot, 33 South invites everyone to experience a fresh, social way to dine.”
For anyone looking for a new city dining spot that champions local ingredients with a modern edge, 33 South is a welcome addition to Auckland’s growing midtown food scene.
