The Ultimate Foodie Guide to Auckland Restaurant Month 2025

Auckland’s tastiest tradition is back and this time it’s bigger than ever. This August, Restaurant Month returns to the city for its 15th anniversary, with a bold and flavour-filled line-up that celebrates everything foodies love about dining in Tāmaki Makaurau. Creativity, culture, collaboration and seriously good food!

Running from 1 – 31 August, this milestone year of Heart of the City’s Auckland Restaurant Month brings more than 100 restaurants together across four weeks of exclusive events, one-night-only menus, hands-on experiences and city-only dining adventures. From immersive cultural feasts to family-friendly food trails and rooftop cocktails, it’s a celebration of the stories, chefs and places that make eating out in Auckland so memorable.

“For 15 years, Restaurant Month has brought our city centre to life in the most delicious way,” says Viv Beck, Chief Executive of Heart of the City. “It’s a celebration of everything that makes this part of Auckland special – the creativity of our chefs, the diversity of our hospitality, and the unique experiences you simply can’t find anywhere else. This year’s line-up is our boldest yet, and a fantastic reason to explore the city, support local, and share something memorable.”

This year’s theme is ‘expect the unexpected’. From an elegant rooftop tasting or a scavenger hunt for noodles, there’s something on the menu for every kind of diner.

Signature collabs bring international talent to the city, including a coastal-chic evening with Sydney’s Icebergs at Soul Bar, and a handmade pasta party at Esther with beloved food blogger Emilie Pullar from The Burnt Butter Table. For those after a side of drama with dinner, La Zeppa hosts a 1920s speakeasy soirée complete with actors and intrigue, while Advieh partners with Adelaide’s Robin Wagner for a six-course showstopper.

Progressive dinner events include ‘Passage to India’, a journey through Times of India, Goat, and 1947 Eatery; ‘Feast from the East’ starring Seoul Night, Mad Samurai, and Khu Khu Eatery; and ‘Around the World at Commercial Bay’ with stops at Advieh, Reign & Pour, and Queens Rooftop.

You’ll also find playful, culture-rich events like Tacoteca’s masa-making class and kids’ taco session, Sunday Truffle Lunch at Bossi, K-culture night at Hazy Tiger with K-pop, Korean food and cocktails and the Great Noodle Run, a fast-paced food trail-slash-scavenger hunt through the city.

The much-loved set price menu series is also back, making it easier than ever to enjoy a great night out. Over 100 restaurants, including icons like Ahi, Cassia, and Hello Beasty, are offering curated meals at $30, $45 and $55+, giving you the perfect excuse to try something new (or revisit a favourite).

First launched in 2010 as a clever way to bring people into the city during winter, Restaurant Month has since grown into a cornerstone of the city’s cultural calendar. It not only drives foot traffic and supports Kiwi businesses, but also spotlights the chefs, cuisines and energy that make Auckland a true culinary destination. It’s also just a really good time!

So mark your calendar, bring your appetite and get ready to eat your way through the city.
